Letter to the International Council for Science
Athens, November 1st, 2012
The Section of Sciences of the Academy of Athens expresses its strong support to the ICSU Statement about the inappropriateness of the condemnation of the six Italian seismologists for not predicting the strong earthquake in L' Aquila in 2009.
It is well known that reliable earthquake predictions are not possible. Therefore the accusation against the six Italian scientists cannot be supported on a scientific basis.
